70 of the identified companies are from Asia (of which 44 in China and 21 in India) and 18 from Latin America. The new challengers are both large potential suppliers and customers: the total yearly amount of purchased goods and services is estimated at some USD 310 billion for raw materials, between USD 80 and 100 billion for commodities and between USD 65 and 80 billion for services.
The companies on the list are still mainly major local players, but are set to expand globally at a fast pace, from 28 percent of revenues generated internationally in 2007 to an expected 48 percent in 2010.
