Over the next five years procurement will have to make a contribution not only to cost reduction but increasingly also to the safeguarding of the innovation pipeline, the optimization of the risk profile and value creation chains, and product design. The results are based on around 70 interviews carried out by BrainNet with CEOs of leading German companies. At the centre of the study was the question of what contribution procurement is required to make, and will be required to make in the future, to the success of a business.
The study also revealed that CEOs lacked procurement performance data. 89 percent of respondents did not have total spend visibility figures available and only one quarter of respondents received monthly reports on procurement performance.
